The Irish Wolfhound Club of Northern Ireland was founded in 1971, by several breeders to promote the exhibition, breeding and the general welfare of the breed in Northern Ireland.

The Club is affiliated to the Kennel Club (London), and runs a Championship Show every September, as well as other get-togethers throughout the year. The Club is also a member of the Irish Wolfhound Health Group, a joint operation by the three UK Irish Wolfhound Clubs to help deal with breed specific health issues, liaising with the Kennel Club (London).

2011's Championship Show at Hillsborough Fort was a very enjoyable day, the results and photos of class winners can be viewed via the Club Show page. It was judged by Mr Jarmo Vuorinen from Finland. This was his first Irish Wolfhound appointment in the UK or Ireland. Best in Show was Graystone Farunah from Gartlove, owned by Mrs A Macaulay from Scotland. The critique of the show can be seen here.

We also hold regular 'get-togethers' throughout the year. A Fun Day is occasionally held at Gulliagh House, Co. Dublin. There are various events held throughout the day, as well as good food and drink. The highlight of the day was the lure coursing. Mr Liam Dean was good enough to film the coursing from a previous year, some of the races can be downloaded from here.

The IWCNI Championship will be held again in Hillsborough Fort, Hillsborough, Co. Down, on Friday, 28th September 2012. The judge will be Per Iversen from Norway.

Schedules are available from here.

If you are interested in having an Irish Wolfhound puppy, we have a list of club members who have litters here.
