Anthony Killykeen-Doyle Tony died on January 6th . He had been very ill for some months. At his own insistence, Tony died at home surrounded by bis beloved pack of Wolfhounds. The Wolfhound world has lost a unique character and someone steeeped in the lore and history of the breed. He himself was a descendant of Captain Hugh D Richardson who did so much for the breed in the 1840's. He was given his first Wolfhound at the age of 11, and from then on immersed himself in the breed, visiting kennels and receiving much help from the famous breeders of the time in Ireland, England and America. Tony was renowned for himself, his hounds and his wonderful collection of Wolfhound books, paintings and artefacts. He himself was the essence of charm, so welcoming at this home in Cavan, and had such a fund of Wolfhound stories and breed information, told brilliantly with much humour. The Killykeen prefix is well known and respected throughout the world. Tony had shown little in some years but recently his breeding has been seen and exhibited principally in the hands of Velda Clark in Ireland and Anne Mette Mikkelsen in Norway. Tony's passing has left a massive void in the Wolfhound community. By Tim Finney
IN MEMORY ANTHONY KILLYKEEN-DOYLE Sadly on the evening of January 6th 2011 Anthony Killykeen-Doyle passed away. He had been ill for some time, but being the private person he was only his closes friends knew of his illness. Tony and his beautiful Killykeen Irish wolfhounds were treasured and well known worldwide. He was a truly wonderful gentleman, devoted to his own beloved hounds and to the breed .He had great knowledge of bloodlines, conformation and the history of the breed. He always said he cared too much, and the development and the commercialisation of the breed made him sad and worried. Now that he is gone, is no doubt that he will be remembered himself in the Irish wolfhound history as a legacy through his writings and his Killykeen bloodlines. Tony was very close to his true friends old and new, and I am honoured to have known him and to be able to call him a dear friend. He was my oldest friend, going back over 40 years. I have some wonderful memories that will never fade. To Anne Mette, Ballygran Irish Wolfhounds he was a great friend, mentor and his house was her second home in the 14 years they knew each other. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him. REST IN PEACE DEAR FRIEND. Velda Clark, Tarlog Irish Wolfhounds
